Irrigation, Drainage and Water Management
To meet the rising demand for food grains for the ever increasing population in the country development of agriculture through optimal utilisation of scarce water resources is a necessity. Hence planning, development and management of surface and ground water resources for irrigation is one of the most important fields of activity at WAPCOS. Over the years WAPCOS has provided a complete package of consultancy services in water resource development, including irrigation, agriculture and water management, covering all aspects of hydrology, design of irrigation network from headworks down to micro-distribution system, canal automation, preparation of reservoir operation and maintenance manuals, institutional arrangements, design of modern irrigation application systems (sprinkler/drip), agronomy, extension services, agro-economics, training, etc. WAPCOS also offers services for Integrated Command Area Development covering watershed management, micro-canalisation and other related aspects.

Advent of irrigation has in turn created the need for drainage to prevent waterlogging and salinity conditions. Efficient drainage is also required for such areas whose natural topography and soil conditions result in stagnation of water in natural depressions. WAPCOS has been associated with planning, designing and construction supervision of surface and sub-surface drains for various projects. WAPCOS is also involved in the studies for the development of the science of Bio-Drainage.

WAPCOS fosters the concept of Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) and has been actively involved in the formation of Water Users Associations (WUAs). Over the years WAPCOS has successfully completed several projects in India and abroad and has earned appreciation for professional services from all clients. The company also takes up assignments for development of infrastructure facilities like service roads in all types of soils & terrain, bridges (all classes), culverts, buildings, tele-communication network, resettlement & rehabilitation work, transmigration, land acquisition and other social infrastructural needs, related to Water Resources Development.
